How society deals with prisoners is a topic that is endlessly debated in the United States. But how it deals with the children of prisoners is often overlooked. One of the best children’s television shows in the country has taken on this subject with a new initiative. “Little Children, Big Challenges: Incarceration” is available in both English and Spanish for children ages 3 to 8. It is an innovative idea, but still makes one wonder how American society has come to a point where such a program is necessary. We now live in a world where prisons are often holding pens for people suffering from addiction and mental illness. It is a problem that isn’t going away until society figures out how to better use its resources.
